Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. On the 22nd May 2017 I will be taking part in the Berghaus Dragon's Back Race in memory of my Dad and to raise money for Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team, Plymouth.

I have yet to find a tougher looking race. Here are the key stats:

  • 5 days
  • 300km
  • 16,000m ascent
  • Approx 100 summits
  • Remote and mountainous terrain
  • 10 to 15 hours per day of running
  • Shortest day: 49km, 3800m ascent including Crib Goch and Snowdon!!!

So far my toughest race to date, Fire and Ice 2016, pales into insignificance when pitted against the Dragon's Back. This is a massive challenge, starting in Snowdonia and finishing in Brecon Beacons.

If ever I've done something that justifies raising money for charity then this is it.

Why Dartmoor Search & Rescue Team (Plymouth)?

My Dad passed away from a brain tumour on 10th January 2015 and he was an amazing man. I miss him sorely and he is the reason I have become who I am today. He always appreciated a good challenge and last year, at very short notice and near the anniversary of his death, I set myself a little challenge that I called the Ivybridge Everest. It smoked me. I was aiming for 42 ascents of a local hill, but after 18 hours and 28 summits (56 miles, over 6000m climbed and descended) the weather closed in and I couldn't take another step. I was spent. Anyway, Dartmoor Search & Rescue Team (Plymouth) came along for the day and supported me from 6am until I could no longer move. They were excellent and I wanted to do something to support them in 2017.

Please spare a few pennies to help them in their work. You never know when you might need them.
