Story
Hey ya guys,
Been thinking of what talents I could use to try and raise some money for a cause that I hold so close to my heart..
Unfortunately, my knees have given up the ghost, so any chance for you guys to see me run the marathon has well and truly sailed. My genetic speed has been usurped by my now turtle-like agility, and my baking skills could only be used to make clay pots...
So, the only talent that I have left is my photography. So it gave me an idea, which will require a level of time and effort on my part, but also some interaction on your part (if you so wish).
The plan is to attempt to take on average a portrait a day for a year. Which doesn't sound like much, but with a job, a baby, and free time it'll be somewhat of a challenge. I only shoot people maybe 4 to 5 times a year, so it'll be a significant ramp up in output. I'm London based, so the majority of portraits will be taken in those areas.
Anyone who has a photo taken is welcome to a full size copy. I'll be waiving my photography fees for anyone involved in the project, the only thing I'd ask is that if possible you contribute to the cause (however small) if you can.
Most of you know that 7 years ago, I left my home with the express intention to throw myself under a tube train. Luckily for me, a young lady grabbed me by the shoulder as I attempted step forward into the path of the train. The last seven years have been a road to recovery, and although my days can be bad on occasion, counselling, photography, blogging, and social media have had a great effect on how my life has turned out. Without all of these things, my son wouldn't be here.
MIND have be instrumental in my recovery, and 1 in 3 are affected by mental health issues. The work they do in lobbying government, and providing support to people like me is invaluable, and it is time for me to pay it forward if I can.
