Story

Have you ever wanted to hurl yourself off a 60m Bell Tower in the car park of a shopping centre in Trafford? No. What if we said it was for a good cause and would help children with life threatening conditions…

As part of our yearly fundraising activities, employees of companies within the Drive Further collective are given the opportunity to undertake challenges to raise money for one of our two chosen charities, St Ann’s Hospice and Francis House Children’s Hospice.

Last year, companies within the collective raised over £8,000 for our charities through numerous challenges including a colour run, golf day and our London to Paris charity bike ride.

And this year, the sky’s the limit, literally, as Rebecca Matthews abseils 60m down the side of the Bell Tower at INTU Trafford Centre to raise money for Francis House.

Speaking about the challenge, Rebecca said:

“I will be doing this alone as all the staff who volunteered had conveniently found reasons not to do it! I hope this can generate a lot of
support for Francis House who are always in need of funding.”

The event is being organised by Eight Point Two, an events company specialising in adventure challenges. All money raised will be going to
help support Francis House Children’s Hospice, who provide care for children and young adults with life threatening conditions.

The abseil will be taking place across the 16th and 17th September, with Rebecca making her descent on Sunday 17th.
You can help support Rebecca by donating, and don’t forget to select gift aid as it allows UK charities to claim back 25p on every £1 you donate.
