Story
I'm lucky. I've never been in a position where I didn't have enough money to buy food. I'm taking part in the 'Live Below the Line' challenge from 27 April to 1 May, where I will pay for all of my food and drink out of a total of £5 (£1 a day), in an attempt at solidarity with the 1.2 billion people worldwide who have to live on this amount or less for all of their needs.
This is not an attempt to actually experience this extreme level of poverty. I will still be living in my comfy house with its running water and freely flowing electricity, and when the 5 measly days ends I will be able to eat anything I want again. However, I am attempting to make the experience not just about deprivation but how I can maximise nutrition and taste. I will be sharing recipes on my blog - www.dropscone.wordpress.com
