Dr Cathryn Jacob Retirement Tandem Bike Ride To Amsterdam.

London to Amsterdam Tandem Cycle Ride ( 360 miles) · 30 August 2017
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
Jim and I will be riding 360 miles on a tandem from London to Amsterdam. 90 miles a day, from 30th August 2017.
We would really like to raise some valuable money for our local hospice before we leave General Practice for pastures new. Jim retired on 1/1/17 and Cathryn will be retireing on 30th September 2017. What a better way to mark our retirement from General Practice, than by raising money for our local hospice. The hospice which has been there, not only for our family, but also for our patients and their families through the many years.
The work the hospice does for the patients in North Warwickshire is vital. The hospice continues to work hard to help and support our patients (and their relatives) affected by cancer and also those needing end of life care . It costs thousands a day just to keep the hospice going. Maybe, with your help, our bike ride can raise a few days income to support the hospice and its patients.
We are raising money in memory of my dear sister Jackie Lanz who died in June 2016 of cancer at the age of 57 years. You died far too young Jackie, but I imagine your raucous laugh and
sparkling brown eyes when you watch me struggling up those hills!
And also in memory of my mother Margaret Lanz, wife of Dr Jack Lanz, mum died in November 2016, at my home, having been expertly cared for, by the Mary Ann Evans Hospice at home nurses. Without their support, I would not have been able to nurse my mum at home rather in a hospital setting. For that, I will always be greatful.
The caring given by all the staff, for my mother was exceptional and the help and support given to myself and my family was an oasis in a time of great sadness and pain. Miss you so much Mum.
We had no idea, when we first signed up to do this bike ride, that we would personally need the help the hospice can offer, for the care of my mother, having so recently lost my sister.
We hope to do all we can to raise as much money as possible, to support the Mary Ann Evans Hospice work.
