The Isle of Wight Challenge 2014 · 23 August 2014 to 24 August 2014 ·

We support the growing number of people in and around Milton Keynes affected by a life-limiting illness. We give our patients and their loved ones specialist, personalised care - free of charge. Only 13.8% of our costs are met by ongoing NHS funding, so we’re dependent on your support. Thank you.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Last year, in need of a challenge and a reason to get back in the gym, I entered, trained for and completed the Shine London Marathon - an overnight 26.2 mile walk. It took 7 hours 21 minutes of hard rainy slog around the streets of London, gave me huge blisters but raised £561 for Cancer Research and gave me a great fitness boost, sense of achievement and a shiny medal!

This year, I decided to up the ante and will be participating in the Isle of Wight Challenge - a nonstop walk around the coastal paths of the Isle of Wight - one of my favourite holiday destinations. It's just a little longer ... 106km or 65 miles to be exact!!! I'll be starting in West Cowes at 10am on Saturday 23rd August, cheered on by my long suffering husband and my God-Daughter Bethany & her family who will be on the Island for their summer holiday, and I'm hoping to finish around 8-10am on Sunday morning....UPDATE - after my 56km trek along the Grand Union Canal in June, I've recalculated by pace and much more likely to finish around lunchtime on Sunday, but no longer worried about the time - finishing is my only goal!

Please dig deep and sponsor me in aid of Willen Hospice - an amazing place and team of people providing care and support for the people of Milton Keynes and surrounding area. Look out for me training around Milton Keynes and Buckingham over the next 8 months and give me a wave!
