Story
After a difficult couple of years for everyone and their mental health I'm embarking on a year of challenges like I did in 2015 to mark the anniversary of Dan's passing. That year of challenges was the seed that grew into the Dan Rhodes Foundation. To start those challenges off, I'm going to have Dry Ski January. My aim is to ski 500km in 30 days in January on a Concept2 Skierg. This was originally going to be an attempt at a World Record but the minimum level set by Guiness was way too high for someone who works full-time and has triplets. For anyone who has ever used a skierg, they will know how tough getting to 500km will be and for those who don't, just try one at your local gym!
I've decided to put myself through this as the last couple of years have been hard for fundraising and I want to raise as much money for the Foundation as I can so that they can continue with their aims.
For far too long, mental health has been held in the shadows and has been a subject that people are unwilling to talk about. This is particularly prevalent in men who don’t want to appear weak or emotional. This needs to stop as more and more people are being affected by mental health issues. It is currently estimated that 1 in 4 people will be affected at some point in their lives and that the ratio is increasing. As someone you know will be affected, why does no one talk about it? Help us raise awareness and bring it out of the shadows
