*******************************************************************************************************************************************

This year the Downs Syndrome Association celebrates its 40th Anniversary.  They are a fantastic charity who provide information and support for people with Down's syndrome, their families and carer's, and the professionals who work with them. They also strive to improve knowledge of the condition and champion the rights of people with Down's syndrome.  The DSA and local groups Bristol Area Down's Syndrome Support (BADSS) and Ups and Downs Southwest campaign for better services for people with Downs Syndrome and their families.  There have been fantastic achievements over the years, not least of all the campaign to give children with Downs Syndrome the right to go to ordinary schools alongside their peers, this has only been routine over the last 10 years.  Parents now have the right to choose to send their child to mainstream school.  The DSA and local groups are there to give legal advice, information/resources and training to help our children have a smooth transition into school and they are always on the end of the phone to offer support when needed.
