Cycling 980 miles in 9 consecutive days is  going to be very tough ask  but hopefully I can raise some funds for the Advanta Foundation. YES it's been a tough 14 months for everyone but for those who have managed to save extra, use it as an opportunity to help those who cannot help themselves.  

We support a large number of children’s charities, both at home and overseas. These include, but are not exclusive to, the Children’s Hospice Association for Scotland, The Jeely Piece Club, The Music for Life Program in Kenya, The Tunahaki Foundation in Tanzania, The Catalyst Foundation and the School of Excellence in Namanditi, Tanzania.

The Ride Across Britain starts at Lands End and finishes at John O'Groats (south of England to north of Scotland). I asked if they could switch it so we'd be going downhill but they refused! 

My colleagues and myself have been training from the end of last year and will continue to do so up until September 21 with the hopes of being able to complete this mammoth challenge. The training has included sitting for hours on a turbo trainer and doing countless laps of Richmond Park, which will sadly will only increase between now and September.

Genuinely though, this will be a once in a lifetime experience and I'm glad I will be doing it alongside the Advanta Family. 

PLEASE, be generous if you can, the foundation does great things and is always looking to do more.

ABOUT

The Advanta Group has always nurtured a strong social policy. This, along with an increasing obligation to help those less fortunate than ourselves, led us to set up our own charity, the Advanta Foundation (previously called One 4 Kids) back in 2005.

The charity has always been a group-wide initiative which staff in our Glasgow and London offices have been passionately committed to. Throughout the years, our calendar has always been peppered with fundraising events, big and small, that were designed to raise money for children’s charities both in the UK and abroad. A

Over the past 14 years, we have hosted a huge number of social fundraisers and also undertaken a large number of physical challenges including climbing Kilimanjaro and the Branberg (Namibia) as well as travelling from summit to sea in Borneo to name only a few.

We have also, in the past 7 years, run a number of volunteer programmes in Vietnam and more recently, Tanzania.

We have always funded 100% of all events and trips which means that every single penny ever raised has gone to help a child in need. Our rule has always been that for every pound raised, 50p is given to charities in the UK and 50p is given to charities overseas.
