Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Dunmow & District Royal British Legion are one of the original Legion branches, having been formed on 29th June 1921, only 6 weeks after the British Legion was founded.

To celebrate our Centenary year we would like to propose a District Wide Virtual Challenge, to take place during our centenary month - June 2021, to see how much we can raise together.

All charities have suffered over the last year, but the demand for their help hasn't diminished.  Any support given at this time can really be a lifeline for the Armed Forces Community, Veterans and their families, but we couldn't do it without you.

The challenge is a virtual one, that can be done by anyone, anywhere, anyway.  It can be done in one go, or take place over several days.  The choice is yours.  The only criteria is that it has to be 100 of something.

Suggestions:

  • Bake 100 Cakes - with a few pennies for each being donated.
  • Walk, Hop, Skip or Sing your way around 100 laps, metres or lengths of your garden or a local park.
  • Cycle 100km.
  • Stay Silent for 100 minutes.
  • Walk 100km as a team - cover the distance throughout June with family or friends, adding your totals together.
  • Anything else you'd like to do.

You can either take part, or donate a few pennies to support others or the cause.

If you are sponsoring any event you can donate directly to this page, so there is no need to set up individual pages. There is an option to leave a little message when you make your donation to say who, or what you are supporting.

Let's see what we can achieve together.

If you'd like to donate, but don't know anyone taking part, then why not sponsor the Dunmow & District Poppy Appeal Organiser who will be walking 100km in June.  Any support and encouragement would be gratefully received.

Sponsorship forms are also available from Dunmow Library, for anyone without online access.

We would like to offer our sincere thanks in advance to anyone taking part, and to all those who sponsor & donate.
