Story
We are a group of 12 year old friends, embarking on a virtual expedition to raise money for the international conservation charity The World Land Trust. Please help support us by spreading the word and donating.
The fundraiser began on June 25th 2021, and will end on June 25th 2022.
The World Land Trust protects the world's most biologically significant and threatened habitats acre by acre. Through a network of partner organisations around the world, WLT funds the creation of reserves and provides permanent protection for habitats and wildlife. Partnerships are developed with established and highly respected local organisations who engage support and commitment among the local community.
We have walked, run, cycled, swum, ridden horses, and scootered
over 7158.5 miles, the virtual distance to Malaysian Borneo.
Our initial target was to aim to buy 3 acres of threatened habitat, by raising £300. We have decided to increase this to £1000, as we believe that we can make an even bigger impact. We are doing this fundraiser because of the shocking effects of deforestation, to make room for developments such as palm oil plantations, and more housing. Many species, such as Pigmy Rhinos, Pigmy Elephants, and Sumatran, Bornean and Tapanuli Orangutans are becoming Critically endangered. We strongly believe that we need to make a change, as we don’t want any more species to die out because of humans.
We all really want to make a difference, as a team, to how
people see animals, and how people think about the environment, and we want to help to stop deforestation, by spreading the word about it, and raising money. So far, we have taken part in the school Christmas Fair, and we are hoping to have other events in school to help us to raise money as part of this fundraiser. We really hope that, if you are reading this, you agree with our thoughts on the matter, and, if you do donate, we would like to thank you greatly. Because we can make a difference, if we work together, no matter who we are and where we are from.
