DURRINGTON's Race for Life

Race for Life · 28 September 2020
This year will be the 5th consecutive year that Durrington High School has been supporting the Race for Life. From small female-only beginnings in 2016 with a team of just 17 students & 5 staff in 2019 we had over 400 staff, male and female students, staff and parents/carers taking part.
Supporting charity is close to our hearts at Durrington; our school values of Kindness, Aspiration, Perseverance and Pride.
Every day, from Monday 28th September onwards for 5 successive days each year group will have an opportunity in turn to walk, jog, run their own “bubbled” race for life. Loads of staff will also be involved, supporting the students and ensuring we remain as Covid secure as possible.
Sadly, a person is diagnosed with cancer every 2 minutes in the UK and many of you will know of someone who has been impacted by this horrible disease. But it's not all bad news! Whilst there are over 200 different types of cancer, the survival rates and treatments continue to improve. This improvement is heavily supported by charities such as Cancer Research UK who run the Race for Life events.
