Do you remember that one teacher from school or university that you’ll always remember? That one teacher who believed in you when others didn’t? That one teacher who said the right words, just enough for them to still motivate you even today?

Well if you remember that teacher, you are lucky. As many children from the UK that come from poorer backgrounds don’t usually get to meet a teacher like that. 

“The link between low income and low academic attainment is greater in the UK than almost any other developed nation. Children eligible for free school meals are less likely to get good GCSEs and go on to higher education. This makes it more likely they will struggle throughout their lives, widening social inequality.”

So to help break that cycle, I will be participating in the 5K Run the River Challenge on the 17th September 2019 in support of Teach First, a registered charity fighting for equality of education in England & Wales.

Their aim is to transform education by getting great teachers and leaders in the schools where they’re needed the most.

Having been a teacher myself, I know that every child has incredible potential but not everyone has the necessary tools allowing them to unlock it. This is why this cause is so close to my heart.
