The Color Run - Birmingham 2014 · 16 August 2014 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Hi there!

Me and three friends will be doing the Color Run on 16th August 2014, all to raise money for our chosen charity - Alzheimers Society. Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia, affecting around 496,000 people in the UK. Not only does it affect the lives of those who have the disease, but it also affects the lives of those who care about them.

Not only has one of our team members been affected personally, no one can be considered above its reach. Terry Pratchett is one of my favourite authors. I've read, and own, near enough every one of his books. I was saddened to hear that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimers back in 2007. This year he had to pull out of the Discworld convention, saying "the Embuggerance is finally catching up with me".

Please support us in this venture, even if you can only spare a few pounds.

*** UPDATE POST-RUN ***

We all had great fun. I got a splat of yellow straight to the face, so I finished the race kind of Simpson-esque, while Nina somehow managed to pretty much avoid getting any paint on her face... some kind of sorcery was at play there I think :P

I've updated the pictures so you can see our before and after shots :)
