There was a man walking along the beach and coming towards him he saw a girl who kept bending down, picking something up and throwing it into the sea.  As he got closer, he realised there were hundreds of starfish stranded on the beach when the tide went out and the girl was picking them up and throwing them back into the sea.

He said to the girl 'there are hundreds, if not thousands, of starfish on this beach, you can't possibly help them all'

The girl replied, 'no, I know I can't.'  She bent and picked up another starfish, held it up to the man and as she then threw it into the sea, she said 'but I helped this one.'

One small kindness can mean nothing to the giver, but to the receiver it can change their life.

Sometimes, little things can make a big difference.
