TackleAfrica uses the power and popularity of football to deliver HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) information and services to young people on football pitches across the continent

Story

Thank you for visiting our just giving page! Our team of warriors will be competing in this years London football marathon to raise money for tackle Africa.

Tackle Africa use football to combat HIV and AIDs in Africa. They use football coaching to educate young Africans about sexual health, relationships and HIV. Specifically they teach young people how to avoid getting HIV, how to live with HIV if you have it, and how to support others to do the same.

For our part we will be competing in the London football marathon. an ordeal that involves the following:

  • Our Team of 8 will play 6 aside football for 12 hours from 8am to 8pm in a fundraising super-tournament
  • Each player will run an average of 40km during the day – about the same as running a marathon

For some of us this will be the first year of taking part, for others it will be up to a 4th year of Playing. From personal experience I can confirm it is a gruelling experience which has left me struggling to walk for the next week!

Please dig deep and give as much as you can and if you are able to come and give your support on the day it will be very welcome :-)

Thanks!!
