Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Earlier this year, the young gentleman that you can see in the above picture lost his battle with Cancer. I first met Jonathan four years ago when I became a Support Worker. Jonathan had battled this disease and had come through the other side. But about two years ago his illness returned. We worked together on a very regular basis, and i began to work with him on an almost daily basis in November 2013. He was always a character. Smiling, laughing and joking with all staff throughout his illness, even when staff had to support JJ when he had been admitted to Hospital or in later days when he was admitted into Myton Hospice in Warwick.
The staff at Myton were brilliant with JJ, family and with support workers. Always taking time to reassure and explain new developments and procedures regarding JJ's care. Which was often stressful! Jonathan was even able to return to his flat, after his first admission to Myton, such was the standard of care. And he flourished once more in his own environment.
Sadly, due to the nature of his condition, it was only a matter of time. And Jonathan lost his battle with cancer on 21st June 2014, surrounded by his loving family. It was an honour to have known Jonathan, and to be with him at the end. He was one of a kind, and loved by everyone who knew him.
It is for this reason i am running the Coventry Half Marathon. To honour JJ's memory, and to contribute in some way to raising funds and awareness for Myton Hospices. Please donate as much or as little as you can afford, i'd just like to help Myton and remember the young man I am glad to have known and call a friend. All money will go directly to Myton Hospices once the page has closed.
Once again thankyou for visiting my JustGiving page, and hoping you will take a little more time to remember Jonathan with me.
