October is breast  Cancer awareness month and more specifically 13th October is the day to raise awareness for secondary breast cancer. 

Cam and I have decided to take on a BIG challenge to help raise money for Met Up UK; to help raise awareness and help those living with a secondary breast cancer. A cause that is very important to us 💕

Secondary breast cancer means there is metastatic disease (ie. The cancer has spread to other parts of the body). 31 people in the UK die every day from secondary breast cancer, and although there is lots of awareness made for breast cancer, unfortunately there isn’t as much awareness for secondary breast cancer and this needs to change.

Currently only a small fraction of money raised goes towards research into secondary breast cancer and Met Up Uk is wanting to change this. 

Met UP UK is patient advocacy group aiming to turn metastatic breast cancer (MBC) into a chronic illness and support MBC patients to gain access to the best medicines to prolong and improve their quality of life.

They are a wonderful charity, please check out their website for a full insight to what they do https://metupuk.org.uk/aims-and-objectives/ . They focus on raising awareness for the disease and by supporting funding into medical research for secondary breast cancer and improving patient access to drugs. Unfortunately secondary breast cancer IS NOT CURABLE…but THERE ARE TREATMENTS to slow down the disease and PROLONG LIFE and give patients a good quality of life. The more treatments there are, the more hope for patients and their families.

Therefore Cam and I will be taking on the 3 peaks challenge on the 6th May 2023 for this wonderful charity. For those of you that don’t know this challenge, it involves taking on the biggest peaks in Scotland, Wales and England a total of 3064m (10,052ft) in 24 hours 🥾 🏔
