Everest Base Camp · 27 September 2013

We want to ensure that every patient at Addenbrooke's and the Rosie hospitals experiences the highest quality of care available. We raise funds for cutting edge technology, additional specialist staff and extra comforts for patients, over and above what is possible with NHS funding alone.

Story

As a nurse specialising in cancer  I am passionate about the care we deliver our patients at Addenbrooke's and ahead of a major new ACT fundraising campaign being launched on the 9th October called ACT on Cancer,  I am hoping to inspire you all to start the fundraising by trekking to Everest Base Camp.

This major new campaign will bring in funds to ensure that patients across the region receive the very best service, in peaceful spaces which will better facilitate care and dignity. To do this the aim is to transform oncology and haematology day units, secure the best equipment for cancer diagnosis and treatment and finally through research, develop a more personalised approach to cancer medicine.

It was once said to me that we'd deliver the best care we could in a cow shed, so imagine the possibility of what we will deliver given the resource!

It is likely that everyone of us have felt the impact of a cancer diagnosis at some stage in our life, be it directly or through a family member or friend, so please help us to transform the care we offer and make it better for the next person.

Thank you

Elaine
