Retired major to complete the Army Physical Entrance Test 42 years after his original selection

Eamonn Coogan a retired Major from the Royal Irish Regiment who continues to raise the profile of mental health issues for former and serving members of the military will in January 2022 be celebrate his 60th birthday by reporting to the Army Selection Centre Pirbright and completing the physical selection criteria to the highest standard, which would  enable him to join any branch of the Army if he were 42 years younger.

His aim is to raise significant funding for Combat Stress

Combat Stress is the UK’s leading charity for veterans’ mental health and for over a century, they have helped former servicemen and women with mental health problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression.

Today they provide specialist treatment and support for veterans from every service and conflict, focusing on those with complex mental health issues.

Eamonn Coogan has been training for over 6 months to prepare him for this challenge as you can clearly see in the various images of him preparing.
