SwimRun you say? Yep, 8 women, 4 runs, 3 swims. We have very little experience of either but a ton of courage and tenacity! 

We are the Early Birds - united and created from our 6.30am cold water swims in Brighton that changes each of our lives in a myriad of ways.

After an icy pitch black swim wasn’t challenge enough, we decided in October 2021 to step it up several gears and sign up to the OTILLO SwimRun Experience in the Isles of Scilly (and Sprint version for our super swimmer Susanna and her bro Ian 🙌🏽).

In amongst learning to swim and run 😳 between us we’ve been riding the rollercoaster rides of divorce, medical retirement, raising young children, heart break, grief, limiting beliefs, financial hardship, learning to single parent, career pivots, physically demanding jobs, advocating for neurodiverse children, creating businesses from nothing, being on call and more – just to be part of this event.  

Long COVID has sadly put an end to our Hanako’s dream, although we know she will be back and rise again, and thank goodness she’s still with us for we are incomplete without her.

BUT - we have made it!  We have squeezed in hopefully just enough training and learning to do this.  

This is an immense challenge for us all. It’s taken a lot to get us all here and we’d love to amplify this experience even further by raising some money for a local charity who supports women in need - the brilliant Brighton Women’s Centre.
