Story
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
North Yorkshire’s health and adult services Hambleton South Team based in Easingwold, are coming together to organise a second memory work around Easingwold in aid of the Alzheimer’s society!
Last year we completed a 2.6km walk around Easingwold centre and raised more than £600 to help benefit people living with dementia and their carers in our community! We would like to thank all of your support and our aim this year is to raise even more this year to help support even more people!
As a team we work with a lot of people who live with dementia and their carers. There are more people living at home with dementia with their family than ever before. By increasing awareness about dementia, together we will be building a strong community.
Our aim is to raise awareness of people living well with dementia and promote a dementia friendly community.
We will be completing our second walk that will be mostly wheelchair and push chair accessible so everyone can be involved!
There will be various activities on site including stalls, a bouncy castle and tombolas, as well as teas, coffee and cakes available.
All funds raised from this event will be donated to Alzheimer’s Society. Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia support and research charity. The Society’s mission is to transform the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, the Society will strive to create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice. For more information about the Society’s work and the support that can be accessed in the local area, please visit: http://www.alzheimers.org.uk/
Therefore we would welcome any donations.
The memory walk will take place on the 8th of September 2019 with a start time of 10:30am so make sure you put it in your diaries!
