This summer two teams from studentNAVS will be heading out to East Africa – both initially to Kenya, then one team will stay on for a further two weeks as the other team heads on to Tanzania.

 The time in Kenya will be spent alongside the Navigator ministry in and around Machakos, working with university and high-school students. There will also be visits to social action projects, including children’s homes. Those staying on for the full three weeks will aim to build up relationships with specific individuals, to together grapple with how faith fits into their individual lives and lifestyles.

The team going on to Tanzania will spend a large amount of their time doing sports coaching with local children and youth, including working with the Soweto Stars Football club in the Kilimanjaro region.  They will also link up with the Navigators in Morogoro, visit rural villages and engage in practical work.

This will be a fantastic opportunity for those involved to be challenged on the diversity of the world around them and their part to play within it, as they reflect on different cultures, their own preferences and skills, and how faith fits into it all.

Each team member needs to raise £1,700 to cover costs, so any amount you are  able to donate towards that would be gratefully received.  If you would like to be specific regarding who your money goes towards, please write in the comments box the individual’s name (e.g. ‘Hannah’) or something that will identify a specific group of people (e.g. ‘Glasgow Navs’ or ‘Tanzania trip’).
