Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We have decided to take on the challenge of the world’s longest uninterrupted walk and would like to invite serving and veterans of E Battery to partake in this activity. The map below shows the route from Cape Town, South Africa to Magadan, Russia a whopping distance of 22,387km (13,910 miles).
As a family Regiment we would like to make this event as inclusive as we can, and we believe everyone should be able to contribute, regardless of injury or disability. You can contribute by walking, running, swimming, rowing, cycling or even riding a horse! Anything will be counted. We have set ourselves 30 days to achieve the task, and Strava will be tracking our miles! Please feel free to use the following hastags #1RHA #FirstTrust #BeyondFirst #OneRegiment #RoyalArtillery #WarriorSpirit #earnyourjacket #globetrotter
In order to achieve this feat, we will be travelling (virtually) through 16 countries including South Sudan, Syria and Georgia and WO2 (BSM) Thomson will be keeping us updated as to our progress.
Raising money for the First Trust, we would like to take this opportunity to provide some facts. The First Trust:
- Provides much needed financial relief to family members of deceased soldiers.
- Provides financial relief to members who have fallen on hard times and are struggling financially.
- Donates funds to help with the advancement of health or the saving of lives.
- Provides soldiers with funds to conduct amateur
sporting opportunities and recreational activities that would otherwise be unavailable. - Donated a total of £60,000 in 2019 while only receiving £38,000.
- Does not receive any money from government contracts or grants, meaning this charity is only able to exist by the help of
people like you.
Any help you provide will make a huge difference to the lives of current and former soldiers from 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery. No matter how small or large your contribution you will be making a
difference. Even if you cannot donate at this time, a share of our event will help spread the word far and wide.
We hope you will stay tuned in for weekly updates and lots of
pictures.
Warmest regards,
E Battery, 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery
