Eton College Greenland Expedition · 3 August 2012

We support The Rifles & its antecedent regiments, including via The Rifles Benevolent Trust, charity No: 1119071, which incorporates Care for Casualties & the Always a Rifleman Programme. Together the Trusts support all serving Riflemen & veterans, with the AARP meeting mental health needs.

Story

This summer, 13 Etonians, 1 OE, 2 masters and 2 guides are travelling to arctic Greenland for a major exploratory mountaineering expedition. The main aim is to climb some unclimbed peaks and experience a genuinely wilderness environment. They will also undertake some scientific research into the adaptations of plant life in a hostile, arctic environment. The expedition hopes to raise money for "Care for Casualties" and we have decided on this charity due to the immense dedication shown to get the lives, both financially practically, of wounded veterans back on track.
