Our amazing twins, Benjamin and Zachary, were born at Burton Queens Hospital

The boys came earlier than we anticipated (36 weeks and 3 days) but everyone is doing well. I wont go into details but the birth was pretty manic. First twin (Benjamin) came within 75 mins of us arriving at the hospital at 4:15am and was natural but then the 2nd little one had some complications as his cord was in the way and his heart rate was dropping alarmingly. They rushed my wife in to theatre and she had a C Section under general anesthetic. He was born at 4:55am. Zachary was born "floppy and unresonsive" and needed oxygen initially but was fine after some support. He had issues with his blood sugars most of his first day but was given the all clear on day 3. He really is a fighter. 

A truly unbelievable experience and magical to have everyone home safely.

The team at Burton truly are lifesaving angels. They work with a clarity of thought under pressure i can only ever dream of having. They communicate excellently to the family and they only have the well being of everyone in their minds.

It was such an experience i feel it only right i try and pay something back to them and this is the best way i can think. 

Pregnant women in Burton will benefit from better birthing choices as a new state of the art birthing pool suite is installed at Queens Hospital Burton. The pool suite, funded by Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity will be installed in March 2022 thanks to supporters of the charity who have made donations over the past year. To complete the project and further enhance the experience offered to women and their birthing partners during labour, the charity is now raising money to supplement the new pool birth suite with comfortable seating, ambient lighting and calming decor. In donating, you will be helping us to finish the room with sympathetic decor and dimmable LED lighting to help give parents the most relaxing experience possible.
