Story

My uncle sadly passed away on 23rd November 2020 after having suffered from Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD) for around 8 years.

CBD is a rare condition which causes brain cells to become damaged and die over time leading to impacts on movement, speech, memory and swallowing. Unfortunately, there is no single test for CBD nor is there a cure, only medication to help reduce the symptoms but ultimately CBD leads to serious complications.

I am therefore undertaking this challenge in memory of my uncle and to raise funds for the PSPA charity to help with the support they provide to people living with PSP and CBD, while funding research into treatments and ultimately a cure. The charity relies entirely on voluntary donations, and that's why I would be hugely grateful for your support - no matter how much or little, every penny helps.

THE CHALLENGE

In August, I will be taking on the 3 Peaks Challenge, aiming to climb the UKs 3 tallest mountains - Ben Nevis (Scotland), Scaffel Pike (Lake District) and Snowdon (Wales) in 24 hours! This includes the 462 miles of driving between the 3 mountains! The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3,064m or 10,052ft.

To add to the challenge and raise as much as possible for this amazing cause, I am also committing to walk, cycle or run a minimum of 100 miles per month for the whole of 2021.

I will be posting updates below so you can see my progress and that I am committed to achieving this challenge!
