Local GP Dr. Martin Lawrence's dying wish was that patients in his practice should be able to die at home; his work was made reality through the work of District Nurse Jane Phillips MBE. The service has grown and now provides free hospice at home care covering five GP practices in Oxfordshire.

Story

Lawrence Home Nursing is a small local charity, providing free end-of-life care and support to residents of north Oxfordshire who want to die at home.

The LHN team gave fantastic support to my family when my Dad died last year.

Research by Marie Curie (https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/policy/better-end-life-report) shows inequality in where people chose to die - the affluent often chose to die in the comfort of their homes, whereas those who are less wealthy spend their last days in a hospital. LHN make the home option a possibility regardless of means.

Please sponsor my attempt to run the 2022 London Marathon so that others can benefit from the professional nursing care and support that my family received.
