Story
The below was beautifully written by Corinne on behalf of all of us in ED.
In November 2019, we received news that no one wanted to hear.
Dimi was a bright and colorful human. He had an infectious nature which never failed to keep us smiling or laughing even in our darkest moments. This could be during a shift or down the pub over a pint of Stella or shot of Jager. A hug from Dimi would be enough to cheer you up even when things were rough. From his bumble bee tops to his dancing history to his “stunning” phrases, he was always a surprise and a delight to be around.
Despite all this he was a man who struggled with his own demons but never wanted to burden the rest of us.
Without him around we find the world a little darker and he is often never far from our thoughts.
In his honor, a Charity football match is being organized with all proceeds going towards CALM. As a group of individuals we want to be able to help other people in situations like Dimi who may be struggling with mental health problems but don’t want to burden the ones they love with their problems … very much like Dimi.
If this money helps even one person, one family, one group of friends to not have to go through what we have … Dimi would be proud.
If this situation has taught us anything as the weird dysfunctional family that we are … its ok to not be ok!
The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK.Anyone can hit crisis point. CALM run a free and confidential helpline and webchat 7 hours a day, 7 days a week for anyone who needs to talk about lifes problems.
