Story
My name is Eddie, and I found a lump in one of my testicles in February 2026, had a radical orchidectomy in March and was officially diagnosed with stage 1 testicular cancer in May. I was also declared cancer-free at this time, and have had one cycle of adjuvant chemotherapy as a precaution. I’m incredibly lucky that this disease has affected me so minimally, so I want to give back to the support groups that have helped me and countless other young people through similar situations.
On 25/9/26, my incredible girlfriend Meg and I will be abseiling down the St Thomas building in support of Guy’s Cancer Charity. You can donate to Guy’s via this JustGiving page; any amount would be hugely appreciated, and if you’re unable to donate, spreading the word would be equally appreciated.
Guy’s Cancer Charity supports Guy’s Cancer and helps them to deliver more personal and innovative care to patients. The Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) section of Guy’s Cancer offers a wide range of services for young people undergoing cancer treatment, and the work they do is truly inspiring. From offering counselling, to facilitating contact with other cancer charities, to organising their own events for patients, Guy’s TYA does it all, and there is no better recipient of this support than them.
I also want to spread awareness of how important it is for people to check themselves and to not be afraid about getting these things investigated. If I had delayed getting a check-up out of embarrassment or fear, things could have ended up far different. It might feel a bit embarrassing in the moment, but it’s nothing compared to the peace of mind and potentially life-changing effects of catching something like this early.
Thank you for taking the time to check out this page, and please help me give back to this incredible organisation that does so much for young people going through this life-altering experience.
