Virgin London Marathon 2014 · 13 April 2014 ·
I am running the Virgin London Marathon on the 13th of April 2014 in memory of my Dad who had a mild form of muscular dystrophy.
Muscular Dystrophy is a genetic disorder that weakens the muscles that help the body move. People with MD have incorrect or missing information in their genetic code which means they can't make the proteins needed for healthy muscles.
MD weakens muscles over time so people with the condition so children, teens and adults can lose the ability to do things that we take for granted like walking or sitting up.
There are many different types of muscular dystrophy, my Dad developed limp-girdle muscular dystrophy in his later life which weakens the muscles at the shoulders, upper arms and around the hips and thighs.
Thank you for taking time to look at my page. I will try to send you a wristband if you have donated. Many thanks for any donations.
