Eden is running a marathon to help Syrian refugees!

London Marathon 2017 · 23 April 2017 ·
As someone who definitely isn't A Runner, what could be more logical than entering a marathon?
Clearly nothing, because in April I'll be running 26.2 miles to support Age International's work with Syrian refugees!
Of the 4.8 million people who have fled Syria since the crisis began, over 1 million have traveled to neighbouring Lebanon. Public services are struggling to cope, and older people are often the first to suffer. It's often impossible to access medical help, and when they can, doctors aren't trained to deal with the needs of older people.
Age International are reaching people who wouldn't normally be able to afford or reach a doctor, via mobile medical units and healthcare centres. We're also training healthcare staff on the needs of older people, upgrading healthcare facilities to make them more accessible to older people, and providing life-saving drugs and medical equipment. Lastly, we're proving counselling to those who have witnessed unimaginable horrors from the conflict that has driven them from their homes.

I'm hugely grateful for any donation you can make. It will make such a difference to the lives of people who have had to leave everything behind and start again in a new country. Plus it will help me make it through the long, dark runs I've got ahead of me!
