We went to Borneo on holiday this year, whilst there we visited a sanctuary dedicated to rehabilitating orphaned and injured Orangutans'. The pressure on the habitat of these creatures is staggering, millions of hectares of jungle having been cleared over the past 50 years due to logging, now replaced with palm oil plantations. Without the help of organisations like Orangutan Appeal UK, the sanctuary could not continue to operate and to move these severely endangered and under pressure creatures to more suitable locations in order for them to survive.

When we returned to the UK, Edie took it upon herself to create a PowerPoint presentation for the head of the junior school that she attends, to highlight the plight of these wonderful apes. The intention was to hold a bake sale to raise funds for the charity. Edie's request was granted, Edie will be holding the bake sale at her school on the 2nd November.
