Story

On May 25th, my brother Tom and I will run the Edinburgh Marathon. Eek! I have always said it is something I could never do but I am hoping to prove myself and others wrong.

Why a Marathon?

Sadly, Dad was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in Summer 2024. This is the most common cancer in men in the UK, affecting 1 in 8 men. Despite the prevalence of this disease; particularly in Dad's age group, the news came as a real shock.

Initially, Dad underwent four months of hormone therapy and recently completed four gruelling weeks of daily radiotherapy treatments. Dad is now slowly recovering and we are hopeful that the treatment will have been successful.

Whilst Dad has been going through his treatment, I decided to challenge myself and train for a marathon. My brother Tom has decided to join me in this challenge too. We have chosen to support Prostate Cancer UK. Prostate Cancer UK fund lifesaving research and support for men and their families affected by prostate cancer.
