Story
Thank you for taking the time to look at my Just Giving page. I have always had a keen interest in walking however in the last few years have not had the time to do much. During a conversation with some friends I decided to set myself the challenge of walking the West Highland Way again at 67 years old. So along with my friends we are setting off on our challenge on Sat 11th April 2020 with the aim to complete the 95 miles within 7 days. I decided that I should do this for a cause to help keep me going along the way and thought that Funny Lumps which is a charity that supports children in Scotland with Neurofibromatosis (NF) was a very worthy charity to choose.
The reason for this choice is that my Grandson Jack who is now 11 was diagnosed with NF1 at age 3. He along with the rest of the family can get support, answers to any questions we may have and also feel part of a community through this charity. Jack enjoys attending the many events they hold throughout the year at none or very little cost to the family as he can spend time with others who are just like him and know how he feels more than anyone else. The whole family approach means that Jacks two sisters can also be included in these events which ensures they don’t feel left out. Funny Lumps are a great support to Jacks parents aswell as they are learning day by day how this condition can affect him and the charity have information and knowledgeable people on hand to help with this.
