Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My family and I had the horrifying experience of losing my Grandma to liver cancer. Starting from noticing her first symptoms on new years day; we never imagined it would lead to the eventual diagnosis, then believing and hoping we would have at least a year to spend with her, only to be told one morning, after a couple of painful months, that it was only a matter of days at that point. To lose her was pain beyond measure, but to have her time cut so short like that was devestating.

Within those months, however, we were able to get assistance from Macmillan Cancer Support, they provided a nurse named Rachel who was fantastic to us throughout the entire process. From helping to organise my Grandma's medication to making arrangements so she could be as comfortable as possible. If we hadn't had that support, as well as that of the carers and district nurses, the whole ordeal would have been a hundred times worse, and we know that keeping her at home in her final days, coupled with the incredibly helpful support we had, meant that she was able to pass away peacefully and comfortably, surrounded by her loved ones.

We can't express enough how grateful we are for the help we received from Macmillan, but the best we can do is encourage anyone and everyone to donate to them through this page, to fund the excellent work they do in helping those who need it both now and in the future.

Thank you.
