Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
What are we doing?
We are both going to do the Velocity 2 Zipline Challenge in North Wales - the longest zipline in Europe and the fastest in the world. We will reach speeds of up to 120mph whilst being suspended face down horizontally!!
We don't like heights, travelling at great speed, or feeling out of control - it will certainly feel very precarious!
Why are we doing it?
We are fundraising for Tearfund, and in particular for families in Burkina Faso ( in connection with Tearfund's Big Quiz Night)
For us, Velocity 2 will feel very precarious, but this lasts for a relatively short time and we do have a choice as to whether or not to do it! However, for the families in Burkina Faso ( already a poor country), their lives are being made precarious by climate change, every day, every week and every year. Crops are failing, leading to extreme hunger. Children are losing their education as they are being withdrawn from school now that there is insufficient money for school fees and food.
Tearfund has been working in Burkina Faso for many years: eg developing self help groups, savings groups, and helping farmers to adapt their farming methods (80% of people rely on agriculture to provide an income for their families). BUT, the current climate crisis has pushed families to the brink of survival, through no fault of their own.
How can you help?
Please give generously!!
We are self funding the challenge, so that every pound given will go to Tearfund directly. Having been out to visit a Tearfund project a few years ago, we are confident that all the monies raised will be put to good use, and that any donation, large or small, will make a huge difference.
(Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
