Story
About a year ago I wanted to challenge myself by setting my sights on completing a marathon, which in my head was extremely daunting. However, with a less than perfect 8-week training plan, I managed to wander over the line in just over 4hrs.
Now the end of 2021 rolls around and I knew I needed another challenge in order to push myself to new physical and mental heights, as well as keep myself motivated. Now since I had completed a marathon already, I dreamt bigger. An ultra it was. Although, I asked myself how a person can run for 7hr+ nonstop, and frankly it seemed ridiculous. But, stupidly and expectedly I didn't hear the word 'ridiculous', instead, I heard 'fun, achievable, and attainable.' It seemed like a worthy challenge to sink my teeth into. Therefore, I roped Jake and Tom into suffering with me, but sadly Tom had to withdraw due to health-related reasons. (He will be greatly missed, but still ever so helpful behind the scenes).
I then sat down and devised a plan and as hard as it has been and as hard as it will become, we are currently 8 weeks in and progressing nicely towards our goal of a 56k race. (Its daunting releasing we will have to run for nearly 8hrs)
The charity we chose to raise money for is the Children's Society, as we firmly believe that every child has the right to a healthy, happy and supportive childhood and to, escape whatever physical, mental or financial hardship they are experiencing. The Children's Society works tirelessly year in, year out, in order to provide these children with better lives and so, with your help, we can hopefully support them along this journey.
Please join mine and Jake's journey to completing our ultra on the 28th May 2022 and rally support behind our suffering bodies and minds.
