Story

Horseheard provide a unique experience for mental health resiliance, self reflection, team building, personal development, team interaction and management development. Working with Horses is an extremely interesting and exciting experience.

HorseHeard  is a UK registered charity working with horses to promote positive emotional health and resilience outcomes for children, veterans, young people and adults using horses.

Horses do not have agendas, nor intentionally mislead. Working with horses creates a non-threatening environment for revealing and accepting the authentic self. As we often refer, horses are “half a ton of feedback and a fast reacting lie detector”.

As part of our Armed Forces Covenant commitment at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, I introduced Horseheard to our NHS Trust and we have worked with them improving the mental health and welbeing of veterans, children and NHS staff over the last year or so, supporting individuals and teams in challenging times.

The exercises we conducted offer both personal and group challenges, facilitating direct experiential learning around individual and collective emotional states – developing self-awareness and management of personal emotions as they might impact relationships and social interaction.
