Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 5th May 2014, our daughter Ruby was stillborn after complications due to a condition known as PPROM (Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes).
Just after 16 weeks of pregnancy, my girlfriend Emma was taken to hospital after her waters unexpectedly broke, starting the hardest 2 months of our lives. The situation eventually became too much for Ruby and her heart stopped beating just over 24 weeks into the pregnancy.
17 babies are stillborn or die shortly after birth every single day, and the charity Sands are working hard to raise awareness of stillbirth and newborn baby death, not only with the media but also amongst the government and policy makers.
On Sunday 12th July, I'll be pounding the pavements in my first ever running event, the British 10k London Run, in memory of Ruby and to raise money for Sands. They depend almost solely on fundraising efforts to deliver the wide range of services that they offer across the UK; supporting and helping anyone affected by the death of a baby, working with health professionals to improve the quality of care to bereaved parents and funding research that could help reduce the loss of babies' lives.
Please help me smash my target of just £300 by donating whatever you can, helping the families out there that are struggling through life changing situations that nobody should ever have to face.
Huge thanks again.
Lee & Emma
