365 Days - 365 Cold Swims!

92 Days/92 Cold Swims for SarcoidosisUK · 31 January 2021
I was diagnosed with the rare disease Sarcoidosis, almost five years ago during a two week hospital admission. I lost my sight, and was seriously ill. I was forced to give up work, my driving licence was revoked and I had to learn to live alongside this disease. My Sarcoidosis affects my brain, eyes, heart, skin , mouth and joints. There is no cure.
Swimming is a vital way I manage my symptoms and reduce the pain and fatigue I endure every single day. I started a daily cold swim challenge on 1st November and have successfully completed November and December and I’m well on the way to completing the challenge of 92 swims in 92 days, by 31st January 2021.
SarcoidosisUK fund at least one major research project every year, and will continue to do so until a cure is found. Since 2015 the charity has funded £356,000 worth of research. I volunteer for the charity; we are a tiny organisation that provides information/support for people with this disease, and fund research into a cure.
