Story
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page!
This summer our group of 7 volunteers will be heading to the town of Akim-Swedru in Eastern Ghana to assist in the construction of an ‘Orphans and Vulnerable Early Childhood Care and Development Centre.’ This centre will be very beneficial for the community there, as it will provide a place for babies and toddlers to go and be looked after, while their mothers are working and earning money to provide for them. We also hope that the centre will help to instil a culture of education into these young children, so they will continue to attend school throughout their childhood.
The project has been proposed by the Child Aid and Youth Development Network (CAYDNET). CAYDNET are a Ghanaian NGO who are dedicated to welfare promotion for children and young people. They also work for the empowerment of marginalised groups such as those the disabilities, and orphans. Team Ghana must raise a total of £11,000 this year in order to fund the construction of the centre. This will include the costs of all the materials and labour that is needed. None of this money will be used to fund the volunteers’ personal costs, such as travel or insurance.Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the
most efficient way to support us: Edinburgh Global Partnerships gets your money
faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid,
plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
