Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
MY MISSION: In an effort to focus energy on the cause, which is to raise funds for Cancer Research, and in the aftermath of the very premature loss of our Uncle Keith in May 2016 from Oesophageal Cancer, I decided use the ballot place I was fortunate to get for the London Marathon, as a platform for fundraising for Cancer Research.
As part of the process of training for, and hopefully completing the marathon, I've planned a number of events and activities to trigger opportunities for fundraising ahead of, and after marathon day, 23rd April 2017:
1. November 2016- 10k MoRun with Alex at Greenwich Park.
2. Silverstone Half Marathon March 2017
3. With the very kind and generous support of the Blackman & White Ltd team, we have been raising funds with a charity tuck shop in our office canteen.
4. Charity Party on 20th May 2017. All are invited, and any offers of donations, prizes and ideas- especially time, are very appreciated! Please get in touch!!
I'm not a natural runner, as you know, so it will be tough, but my battle is out of choice- the decision to battle cancer does not come with this luxury.
Supporting funding the work of Cancer Research, in any small way, is crucial to long term cancer prognoses, and for most of us, helping fund this, in any small way, is the best opportunity we will get to helping our friends and family who are affected by cancer.
THE CAUSE: We all know someone who has had, has or will have cancer. For some this battle will happen too soon, but the more support Cancer Research can have for their work to beat cancer, the more optimistic we can be.
The statistics back this up. In the 1970's less than a quarter of people with cancer survived 10 years or more. Today, more than half will survive. Within 20 years Cancer Research wants to see 3/4 people survive.
The Cancer research Vision is to 'discover ways to prevent, diagnose and treat' cancer.
