Story
My brother Michael was sadly and shockingly diagnosed with terminal bowel/liver cancer. His wife Jackie, daughters Faye, Emily and two lively grandsons (who Michael adores) The Owens & McCotters can not believe that we would be in this position. Less than three months ago all was well.
For those that have met Michael, he has a cracking Irish humour (to be sure to be sure) a grafter and super loyal to family.
One of his wishes, was to go to Myton Hospice and luckily (if we can call it that) he was given a place not everybody gets one. As it comes down to timing as they have beds, however they don't have the staff as funding is needed, as they rely on charity events, funding and good will of people like us. £35,000 a year would train, recruit and salary a nurse for the year. I can't imagine what my family would have had to have gone through, if they said no to my brothers wish. Wouldn't wish that on any family, so its time to make a difference. Michael always helped others, helped me when I becoming a grandparent so its time to help too.
One of my crazy family members (blaming Jane) with Emily has talked me into joining them and abseiling off Coventry Cathedral on 13th October to raise money and contribute to Myton Hospice Fund. At this time, doing nothing is driving me crazy as you kind of feel helpless, so having a great cause to support, to make a difference to other families, especially to an incredible organisation, that no one ever speaks negatively about, is the perfect time. If you would like to donate, abseil with me or cheer me on... really appreciate it.
With love Team Michael
