This will be the 3rd time I've taken on this challenge. Between us, Team Robinson has done 18 (+3)Great North Runs, 4 Junior GNRs and 2 (+1)Great North Swims. This year's in brackets. Every year we are completely humbled to find people still willing to support us. 

We do it for one reason, Niall who is our precious if slightly noisy and often funny young man. I still vividly remember visiting Percy Hedley for the first time in June 2003 and instinctively knew it was the perfect school for him. What's special about the school and college is its staff. I would struggle to find a harder working, more dedicated group and many have become friends. I see how they transform life for very special children as they did for Niall. They encourage, challenge and push students to reach their potential and Niall continues to make me proud.  So, we take on these challenges to push boundaries, and raise much needed funds. At the last count, between us we raised over £15,000. It's thanks to friends, family, colleagues and work contacts that made this possible. 

Last year was such an enjoyable swim, with perfect weather and swimming conditions. I also love meeting other people who support the foundation, hearing of their connections and some who just found us and keep coming back. Oh, Maria I loved the Prosecco too 😉
