This year for my birthday fundraiser, I have chosen to raise money for Action on Asbestos. As many of you know, my wonderful Papa passed away 8 weeks ago today. In August 2020 - at the age of 83 - Papa was diagnosed with lung cancer caused by asbestos exposure all of those years ago working in the shipyards as an electrician. His bravery towards his illness is something I will never ever forget, he really was our hero. We are very grateful to Professor Blyth & his team on the respiratory ward at the QEUH for everything they did for Papa throughout his illness and the support they gave the family.

It goes without saying that he was a much loved Husband, Dad, Father-in-law & Papa and his passing has been really tough on our family, a heartbreak that many families have experienced who have lost a loved one due to asbestos. I have chosen this charity as they do a wonderful job at supporting families like us. Over the course of the next 4 weeks, myself & Connor will walk & run 100 miles and by my birthday - 8th March - this will be completed, will post regular updates on this.
