Story
A lot has changed since I set out to do this fundraiser, but here's the story I'd written at the beginning:
I'm 17 years old, my dad is currently going through a rough time with all sorts of illnesses springing up on him, but this is the last of his worries and our concerns as he's suffering with cancer of his liver and lungs. I'm afraid to tell you that it's not quite as simple as "don't worry, it'll clear up!". It's actually a lot more complicated than that, however we are all still keeping our fingers and toes crossed for the best news. He was told his chemotherapy had stopped working, and this breaks my heart to announce this to those who might not be aware, but there might not be much good news this year. Of course we're all praying that this isn't the case, and in the mean time we're all staying strong. I feel that this is the least I can do right now, as there isn't really anything else I can do.
We have a Macmillan nurse, and to be honest, she's such a great help, a really friendly person and someone who you can actually have a laugh with. She's been giving me and my family so much incredible support and has been going that extra mile for my dad to make sure he's as comfortable as he can be while he's at home. She's really keeping me motivated to do this task and to raise some money for this charity. I want to give something back to the people who have given us so much comfort, advice and support throughout the last 6 months. I also want to help continue the amazing support and job they are doing with caring for cancer sufferers and their familes.
On February 16th 2012, my dad passed away. It's not been easy, and it's not going to get any easier - all I want to do now though is to make him proud of his little girl and to show the support to Macmillan and Katherine House Hospice as they showed my dad, myself, my family and my dad's friends through all of this.
If you sponsor me by donating some money, I just want to say thank you so much. It means the absolute world to me, and I really can't tell you how much I appreciate it. I'll be sure to post the video of my progress on this event on YouTube (EeJayGeeSee). So keep an eye out for it. Thank you :)
