Story

At our 12 week scan we were informed that our unborn baby had a limb differences. Not knowing what it was, or what could had coursed this, we lived week by week not knowing what and if there was going to be any complications. It was a very scary time for me and my husband.

We found Reach Charity in those early weeks, and they have been the biggest support to us as parents to be and to our son since he arrived 🧡

Our son Arthur was born in June 2020 missing most of his left hand. He was seen at 3 days old and again at 4 months old to be diagnosed with the limb differences known as Symbrachydactyly.

He is now 21 months old and thriving!! We let him take on every challenge he faces as he grows. He is such a happy, cheeky chap who is also a bit of a daredevil 😅

I wanted to take part in this years limb loss and limb differences awareness month challenge, as being a mum to a child with symbrachydactyly I know things that seem simple to us may be more of a challenge to him. And as he grows I would also like a better understanding of what it’s like for him as I teach him things like zipping his coat up, or cutting his dinner up.

So I will be taking on challenges like..

  • putting my hair up
  • Zipping my coat
  • Peeling a potato
  • Opening a bag of crisps

The list is endless!! And I will be videoing these tasks and sharing them across both my social media accounts.

All the money raised in the next month will go towards Reach Charity so they can continue to supports parents, children and individuals who live with a limb differences like Arthur.

Thank you for reading our story 🧡
