Story
Many of you will know Clara, Jackie & Phil’s daughter who LOVES to ride. Being the tenacious determined little soul that she is, Clara was clearly not prepared to let her failing eye sight stand in the way of her dreams, her favourite horse Jago, a saddle and hours of joy.
Delivering Clara’s horse riding dream over the last few years has been down to Penniwells, who have been extraordinary in so many . As a riding school for the disabled they excel at meeting the most taxing challenges and despite Clara's severely failing eyesight within a matter of months of Clara joining Penniwells, the dedicated staff and volunteers had Clara competing at the RDA Regionals, swiftly followed by the Nationals and then provided us all with a show stopping appearance as The Queen, in front of Lizzie at Windsor .... not bad for the first 12 months or so.
Clara’s enthusiasm and joy for Penniwells has grown beyond Jago and her riding, she has found a world full of new wonderful young friends who like her have their challenges, but all of whom are as equally determined.
We have had the privilege of seeing Clara grow, but Clara is just one child from thousands of individuals, young and old, that Penniwells has supported since its inception in 1980. Their dreams are only made possible by the dedicated team of caring adults who do make a whole world of difference.
Our small challenge is to raise sufficient funds to keep a Penniwells' pony in hay, blankets & shoes (thankfully not the Manolo Blahnik variety) for the next year at a cost of £3,000.
Penniwells have to raise £200,000 each year to keep the show on the road, they receive no government, or RDA funding, so a significant amount of time and effort has to go into fund raising. We’re keen to make this ongoing battle just a little easier, so please do help this exceptional small but effective charity.
