Story
In April 2015 Elaine was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer. Over the following months she underwent gruelling chemotherapy. Following on from this, she had lumpectomy surgery and then went on to have some radiotherapy treatment. Then in February 2016 she was given the 'All Clear'. It was at that point we all breathed a sigh of relief in the hope that life would return to normal for Elaine and her family.
In June of this year Elaine visited her GP a number of times, for pains in her abdomen. After numerous tests and scans, she received the shocking news that the cancer had returned to her lymph glands. Elaine undertook more chemotherapy that she found very difficult and painful.
She was admitted to Royal Preston Hospital with a number of complications, this meant she was unable to continue with her chemotherapy treatment.
The severity of the complications proceeded to get worse with time, as the cancer continued to spread. After 7 weeks of treatment her liver began to fail and sadly on Wednesday 14th December Elaine lost her fight with cancer and passed away peacefully with family and friends at her side.
Knowing Elaine, we would ask that you make a donation to Breast Cancer UK, rather than sending flowers or gifts to the family.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read our story.
